Benefits of Positive Thoughts

Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to the topic of positive thinking. There is the school of thought that believes if you think positively, good things will happen to you and vice versa. Then there are those that chalk up the benefits of positive thinking to chance or circumstance. Below are a few reasons why I think positive thinking is beneficial for you and why you should start making positive thinking a daily habit in your life.
Reason #1 for Positive Thinking: Better Health
Did you know that worrying is a form of negative thinking? When you worry about things and events, your mind is consumed with these thoughts. If the worry is strong enough, it could become debilitating. Worrying can lead to stress and stress leads to all sorts of bad things, including heart attack and possibly death.
Instead of worrying about things, why not focus on something more positive. By thinking positively, you rid your mind of worry, reducing the effects of stress since you lessened your stress. When you find yourself worrying, question what that worrying solves. 99.9% of the time, it solves nothing, so why waste your time doing so?
Reason #2 for Positive Thinking: More Productive
I've been in situations before where I've worried so much it ruined my days and weeks. All I did was run through different scenarios in my mind of how things were going to play out. I look back and realize how much of my time I wasted by focusing on the wrong thing. I can never get that time back. And going forward, I never want to waste my time worrying about something that may or may not happen. I would rather focus on the things that make me happy, like spending time with my friends and family.
This is the main reason why I have positive thoughts. I know that positive thoughts keep the worry at bay and that frees my mind to focus on other, more important things in life.
Reason #3 for Positive Thinking: Personal Growth
When you stop worrying, you are more inclined to try new things. If you are always worried about how a new meal will turn out or how that possible new job will be, you will most likely talk yourself out of it. When you worry less, you take on more challenges. This allows us to grow as a person.
Additionally, when we are more productive, we begin to find new, more efficient ways of doing things. All of this is a result of positive thinking. By constantly having positive thoughts, we begin to believe in ourselves instead of doubt ourselves.
Reason #4 for Positive Thinking: Live a More Satisfying Life
As I mentioned before, the time I spent worrying is time I will never get back. The saddest part is that in all of the times I worried, the thing I worried about never came true. My worry was overblown. Always remember that your mind is extremely powerful.
Now that I no longer worry and think positively, I get so much more out of life. The fact that I am more productive and growing as a person simply enhances the satisfaction I get out of life.
Final Thoughts
I encourage you to start your journey of positive thinking. It won't be easy at first, as the negative thoughts will fight back with a vengeance. But if you stay strong and push through, I guarantee you that positive thinking will take you on a journey you couldn't have imagined.
