Using EFT On Beliefs: Can You Really Change Your Negative Beliefs With Emotional Freedom Techniques?

What Is EFT?
Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT been described as acupuncture but without the need for needles. It's based on an energy meridian theory of Chinese medicine that stretches back over 2,000 years
What's Actually So Good About EFT?
There are many good things about EFT. Firstly, it's a non-intrusive therapy, and anyone without the need for medical training can use it. You can't over use it or misuse it. You can use it with clients in person, or over the phone or via Skype. But the really great thing about EFT is that a client can use this on themselves as well.
What Does EFT Work On?
Gary Craig, its originator, says "try it on everything. It works on any muscular ailments like aches and pains. It is excellent with conditions that conventional medicine has difficulty treating that have a psychological component like IBS, eczema and even conditions like ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia. Headaches, migraines and the like are useful applications for EFT.
Problems With Working On Beliefs
Normally the main difficulty with working with beliefs is you have to be present with the client - for example for hypnotherapy or NLP. In addition, you need more than a modicum of skill to use these disciplines.
The alternative is that you recommend a method like affirmations which is not terribly effective. However, with EFT and beliefs we can teach a client to work on their beliefs themselves, then leave them to it.
Using EFT On Beliefs
EFT is particularly useful in working with negative beliefs that run your life that you want to change. With beliefs, what happens is that you access your sub-conscious by literally tapping on yourself. So you tap away, awaken the sub-conscious and that will lead you to where this particular negative belief is associated.
So we can home in and find out where this belief started. Then we can look to change that belief using another method which is an extension of EFT and replace the negative belief with a positive belief.
And it's such a gentle methodology. All you're doing is tapping on the various parts of your body and saying a few key words and the changes can be significant in such a short space of time.
To reiterate - you can use this with clients one to one and they can use it on themselves as well.
Summary Of EFT
EFT is an effective methodology that allows practitioners and the general public alike to use a simple technique to deal with aches, pains, psychologically-based illnesses and negative beliefs.
It can't be misused or overused - the worst thing that can happen is that it doesn't work for your chosen ailment.
